Sanctions against Russia in general and the Urals in particular

The Swiss government has blocked Russian assets worth $8.1 billion. This was announced by the press secretary of the State Secretariat for Economics (SECO) Antje Berchi.

“As of December 1, 2022, 7.5 billion Swiss francs (8.1 billion dollars – approx. URA.RU) are blocked in Switzerland. The figures provided by Credit Suisse include not only funds blocked due to Swiss sanctions, but also funds belonging <…> to persons who are sanctioned in other countries, ”Berchi said, RIA Novosti reports.

In connection with Russia’s conduct of a special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine, a number of Western countries have imposed sanctions against the domestic economy. In the latest package of sanctions, Switzerland imposed an arms embargo on Russia and Ukraine. Earlier, it imposed sanctions on the introduction of a ceiling on prices for Russian energy resources, as well as restrictions on purchases of ferrous metallurgy products. Switzerland was also offered to transfer the assets of the Russian Federation to the Ukrainian side, but the Parliament refused to do so.
