RSUH student Alexander Zhadan is not ashamed of the fact that a neural network wrote a diploma for him. He stated this in the press center of the “Parliamentary newspaper”.

Zhadan believes that the neural network can be used in various areas of life, and his experience of writing a thesis once again proved this. “I was interested that other people learned something from this story and could use it in their lives, because the neural network can be used not only for passing a diploma, but also for writing the basics of programming documents or in other different areas of activity. A neural network can facilitate work in various areas,” the student said. He added that he was not ashamed of his act. “I’m not ashamed that a neural network wrote my diploma for me,” he said.

In February, Zhadan announced that he had completed his thesis, most of which was written by the ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot. The neural network made up 60 pages of the diploma, including introduction, analysis, conclusion and references to the literature used. Oleg Smolin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, in the press center of Parliamentary Newspaper, proposed changing the procedure for defending diplomas and dissertations in order to avoid such situations. The deputy believes that a student should be awarded a diploma only after he demonstrates mastery of the material and answers questions on the topic.
