The President of Ukraine is categorically against the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympic Games
Kyiv, February 11, 2023, 02:50 — REGNUM President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky again urged not to allow Russian athletes to participate in the Olympic Games, the presidential website reports on February 10.
He made such a statement at an online meeting with the ministers of sports of Western countries.
Zelensky said that it does not matter under which particular flag Russian athletes will compete at the Olympics. Their very participation, according to the Ukrainian president, will be a violation of the Olympic principles, the approval of the path of terror and propaganda of war.
Zelensky has lashed out at Russian athletes, claiming that many of them are associated with sports clubs in the Russian army and law enforcement agencies and have military and special ranks.
Zelensky accused the International Olympic Committee of losing “honesty” and demanded that he should not allow athletes from Russia to the Olympic Games under any circumstances.
Recall that Western countries are trying in every possible way to prevent the trip of the Russian and Belarusian teams to the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
