Volodin to start social protection measures in new regions of Russia from March 1

Social protection standards in the new regions of Russia – Luhansk, Donetsk People’s Republics, as well as Zaporozhye and Kherson regions – should come into force on March 1. So the Russian Federation promptly responded to the appeals of local residents with questions about the payment of benefits, sick leave, subsidies for housing and communal services, the appointment of pensions, measures to support veterans and the disabled. This was announced today, February 13, by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

“Residents of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, receive requests with questions about the payment of benefits, sick leave, subsidies for housing and communal services, the appointment of pensions in accordance with Russian legislation, measures to support veterans and the disabled, standards in the areas of healthcare and education,” — the politician wrote in his telegram channel.

He drew attention to the fact that “for 30 years, people have not been able to receive sufficient social guarantees from the failed Ukrainian state, and as for the residents of Donbass, they were deprived of them.”

“Today, our citizens from the Lugansk, Donetsk People’s Republics, as well as Zaporozhye and Kherson regions should receive social support and feel protected just like in other regions of the Russian Federation,” he emphasized.

As the parliamentarian recalled, by analogy with Crimea and Sevastopol, it was necessary to adopt about 70 laws in order to integrate these entities into a single legal space. As a result, their residents have the same social guarantees as all citizens of our country, he stated.

“The issue of forming a single legal field is a priority in the work. The State Duma has already adopted 18 laws to integrate new regions. 20 bills are under consideration”, Volodin added.

“Our task is to start making decisions that ensure the provision of social support measures to residents of the Luhansk, Donetsk People’s Republics, as well as Zaporozhye and Kherson regions from March 1,” he pointed out.
