Japan, like most Western countries, by imposing restrictions and sanctions, now belongs to the states unfriendly to Russia. But Japanese suppliers are not stopping the export of cars to the Russian market, although most of the deliveries are used cars, as TASS reports today, February 13.
In 2022 alone, the export of Japanese used cars to Russia increased by 32%. The result was confirmed by the Japan Used Vehicle Exporters Association (JUMVEA). According to the organization, last year 213.5 thousand such cars were imported to Russia, most of which are Toyota brands.
At the same time, the export of new Japanese cars after the introduction of trade sanctions decreased by almost 30%. The assembly of transport at Japanese enterprises based in Russia also stopped. But the good work of the port of Vladivostok and the depreciation of the yen against the dollar and the euro helped to offset the reduction in the supply of new cars.
