Investigators have detained two suspects in a criminal case initiated on the fact of a gas explosion in a residential building in Novosibirsk. The defendants in the case are residents of the Omsk region – a man and a woman, 25 and 45 years old, who carried out maintenance of gas stoves, according to the website of the investigative department of the RF Investigative Committee for the Novosibirsk region.
As Parlamentskaya Gazeta wrote, in Novosibirsk on the morning of February 9, an entrance collapsed due to a gas explosion in a five-story building. The victims of the tragedy, according to the latest data, were seven people. Seven more people are in the hospital. On the fact of the incident, a criminal case was initiated under the article “Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, a few days ago, the suspects, who presented themselves as employees of Mezhregiongaz service LLC, carried out maintenance of gas stoves in several apartments in a house on Lineinaya Street in Novosibirsk. On the morning of February 9, there was a household gas leak in the building, and then an explosion of the gas-air mixture, which caused a partial collapse of two entrances.
The number of victims is now being specified, and rescue operations are continuing at the scene of the tragedy.
Earlier, the governor of the region, Andrey Travnikov, said that the explosion could have occurred due to a violation of the rules for operating gas equipment.
