The US authorities denied Kyiv the opportunity to strike deep into Russia

US authorities have a small stockpile of ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers. For this reason, and for fear of undermining their combat capability, they refused to provide Ukraine with this type of ammunition. This position was voiced by a source to Politico.

“As part of any package, we always evaluate our own combat readiness and our own arsenal, while providing Ukraine with what it needs on the battlefield,” reports newspaper source at the Pentagon. At the same time, it is noted that the US authorities are ready to provide other weapons that can enable Ukraine to strike at targets.

Earlier it was reported that the US Congress called for the transfer of ATACMS ballistic missiles to Kyiv for strikes in the Crimea. The condition for this, according to the American ex-ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, may be the signing of a special document by Zelensky, which will oblige him to refrain from attacking Russian territories with these weapons. Later, the United States broke its promise and decided to supply Kyiv with long-range GLSDB missiles capable of reaching from Kherson to the Isthmus of Perekop, which connects Crimea with the mainland.
