The media reported that the United States does not have stockpiles of ATACMS missiles for Ukraine

U.S. officials said they did not have extra ATACMS missiles to hand over to Ukraine, supplying them to Kyiv would lead to depletion of U.S. stocks, Politico reported, citing sources.

ATACMS tactical missiles have a range of 300 kilometers and can be launched using HIMARS and MLRS multiple launch rocket systems. As reported by Parlamentskaya Gazeta, Kyiv first requested missiles of this type in October 2022 after the start of Russian strikes on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.

“As part of any aid package, we always evaluate our readiness and our supplies, providing Ukraine with what it needs on the battlefield. There are other ways to provide Ukraine with the capabilities it needs to hit targets,” a Pentagon source said.

He added that the transfer of such missiles would lead to the depletion of US stocks and would damage the combat readiness of the American army for a future battle. At the same time, according to the publication, over the past decades, 4,000 ATACMS missiles have been produced, some of which were sold to the allies, and about 600 were used during the exercises.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that if Kiev receives ATACMS ballistic missiles from Washington, large Russian cities, as well as industrial and transport infrastructure facilities, will be in the zone of possible destruction. According to the diplomat, such a scenario would mean direct involvement of the United States in a military confrontation with Russia.
