In Moscow and Central Russia, heavy snowfall and a blizzard are expected at the weekend, the height of snowdrifts will increase by 5-10 centimeters, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told RIA Novosti.
“On Saturday afternoon, especially in the afternoon, it begins to snow, pressure and temperature drop from zero to minus 2 degrees and wind speeds up to 15 meters per second. The combination of wind and snow will lead to a blizzard, Vilfand said.
According to him, the blizzard will continue into the night of Sunday. On Sunday afternoon, the pressure will rise again, light snow will continue to fall.
“The snow that will fall on Saturday and on Sunday night will contribute to the fact that the height of the snowdrifts will increase by 5-10 centimeters,” the forecaster said.
