Russian special operation in Ukraine
Germany will not train Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 combat aircraft. This was stated by the head of the German Ministry of Defense Boris Pistorius.
“At the moment it is [обучение украинских пилотов управлению истребителями F-16] not planned,” Pistorius said in an interview with the publication Bild. He added that Germany is now focused on supplying Kyiv with weapons and humanitarian aid.
Pistorius noted that Germany plans to provide the Ukrainian army with warm clothing and heating appliances by the fall. He said that other partners of the fighter coalition will train Ukrainian pilots.
Earlier, the Netherlands and Denmark promised to transfer several dozen F-16 fighters to Kyiv. Deliveries will begin after Ukrainian military personnel are trained to pilot. At the moment, some military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have begun training. It may drag on for a year.
