SpaceX restricts Ukrainian combat drones access to the Starlink network

SpaceX has restricted the access of military drones in Ukraine to the Starlink satellite communications network. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell announced the news on Wednesday.

“There are things we can do to limit them [Вооруженных сил Украины] opportunity and we made it happen.” – Reuters quotes her words at a conference in Washington.

The company’s president noted that Starlink “was not designed to be a weapon.”

“We know that [украинские] the military uses them [дроны] as a means of communication. However, we want them never to be used offensively.” – said the President of SpaceX.

On January 28, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced an increase in the purchase of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine this year, for which it will allocate about $ 544 million. A day earlier, the department announced the formation of shock companies of drones in the Ukrainian army, they will be equipped with Starlink satellite communication terminals.
