Mahashivaratri 2023: Ujjain (Naiduniya Representative). More than two crore rupees will be spent on organizing ‘Shiv Jyoti Arpanam Mahotsav’, the biggest program of lamps on Mahashivratri (February 18) this year in Dharmanagari Ujjain. 20 thousand volunteers, 50 thousand liters of oil and 25 lakh cotton wicks will be required to light 18 lakh lamps at a fixed time. 225 lamps will be kept in one block. The construction of the block will start from Friday. Lamp lighting training will be given on 13, 14 February. It will be ensured that the lamps are lit for at least 10 minutes, so that a world record can be set for lighting at least 18 lakh lamps at a time. Departmental action has been started for the arrangements. In this connection, on Thursday, Collector Kumar Purushottam, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal held separate meetings with officials of social organizations, education and women and child development department at the Smart City Company office.
Shiv Jyoti Arpanam Festival will be held on the banks of Shipra river

Zero waste will be the whole program
Lamps will be lit at Ram Ghat, Dutt Akhara Ghat, Narsingh Ghat, Kedareshwar Ghat, Sunhari Ghat, Gurunanak Ghat, Bhukhi Mata Temple side ghats. The program will be zero waste. That is, beautiful artefacts will be made from empty oil bottles, burnt wicks and lamps. The burnt wick will be used to make the mattress. Helpdesk and medical team will be present at every spot.
Month-long grand fair will be held from Mahashivaratri from next year
From next year onwards, a month-long fair will be held from Mahashivaratri. This fair will be held at the Kartik fair ground. The fair will be organized through an agency instead of a corporation, in which the agency itself will allot shops and conduct the fair. Monitoring will be done by Municipal Corporation. The corporation will get additional income of lakhs from this fair. The Mayor’s Council has approved the proposal related to this.
