Khartoum, 10 February. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented on the construction of a logistics center for the RF Armed Forces on the Red Sea coast of Sudan.
This happened during a press conference in Khartoum, held jointly with Foreign Minister of the East African state Ali al-Sadiq. Answering a journalist’s question, Lavrov confirmed that the construction of a Russian base in the city of Port Sudan remains on the agenda of negotiations between the two countries.
“As for the agreement on the establishment of a logistics center for the Russian Navy, as you know, it has been signed and is in the process of ratification,” the minister stressed.
It is worth recalling that this issue was first discussed in 2017 with the leadership of Sudan. Three years later, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the relevant draft agreement.
