Seismologists recorded an earthquake of magnitude 4.9 off the coast of Japan


An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 occurred near the Japanese prefecture of Fukushima. The meteorological department of the country reported that the center of the earthquake lay at a depth of 60 kilometers under the ocean floor.

There were no reports of casualties. Residents of nearby settlements did not contact emergency services about the incident. A tsunami threat was also not announced.

According to preliminary information, there are no emergencies at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant. The station continues to operate normally.

Earlier, the Russian Emergencies Ministry announced the rescue of a person after an earthquake in Turkey. The victim was under the rubble for 160 hours.
