Vasavada played a crucial inning when the team was in trouble after losing five wickets for 42 runs. Krishnappa Gautam (3/38) and Vasuki Kaushik (3/32) gave Karnataka hope of a home win but the visitors, led by Vasavada, chased down the target in 34.2 overs.
Karnataka scored 407 runs in the first innings with skipper Mayank Agarwal scoring a double century, replying which Saurashtra scored 527 runs. Karnataka started the final day at 123 for four in their second innings but the entire team was bundled out for 234.
Nikin Jose played an innings of 109 runs but he did not get support from the other end. He was the last batsman to be dismissed. India’s limited-overs fast bowler Chetan Sakaria took four wickets for 45 runs for Saurashtra. Dharmendra Singh Jadeja also took four wickets for 79 runs.
Chasing the target, Saurashtra got off to a poor start and were in danger of defeat but Vasavada and Sakariya (24) put on 63 runs for the sixth wicket to bring the team to the brink of victory. Vasavada then teamed up with Prerak Mankad (7 not out) to win the team. Vasavada was adjudged man of the match for his 202 off 406 balls in the first innings and 47 not out in the second innings.
