Russian military contingent in Syria helps UAE rescuers get started

The Russian military is assisting rescuers from the United Arab Emirates who arrived in Syria to provide assistance to victims of the earthquake, the Russian Defense Ministry said on February 10.

Ten aircraft from the UAE delivered 400 tons of humanitarian aid to Damascus International Airport: medicines, food, warm clothes, beds and other essentials.

In the city of Jebla, one of the settlements most affected by the earthquake, a detachment of rescuers from the UAE, numbering 50 people, arrived.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stressed that Russian military personnel are currently conducting reconnaissance of the area to organize the work of rescuers from the UAE.

Recall that the Russian military is taking an active part in rescue, recovery and humanitarian operations in Syria.
