Russian Ambassador to Iran Alexei Dedov said that Iran’s position on the issue of Crimea and the regions annexed to Russia does not affect relations between Moscow and Tehran. Earlier, Iran refused to recognize the accession to Russia of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
According to him, the statement of the Iranian Foreign Ministry was not “something new” for Moscow. “However, this does not contradict the existing bilateral agreements in other areas. We see that cooperation is developing fruitfully and this factor does not have a negative impact,” said Alexey Dedov “RIA News”.
On January 19, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that the country does not recognize Crimea, the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions as part of Russia. According to him, Iran recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, despite “excellent relations” with Moscow.
