Roskomnadzor (RKN) named the reason for the blocking on February 7 of the website of the Moscow Helsinki Group, a human rights organization liquidated on January 25 (MHG, operated since 1976). The reason was the materials posted on the website, “containing inaccurate socially significant information, as well as discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” the RKN told Russian news agencies.
Access to the MHG website is limited on an ongoing basis due to the repeated placement of prohibited content, the RKN reported, including TASS. The ban was introduced on the basis of the Law “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection”.
Access to the site mhg.ru was limited, followed on February 7 from the data of the RKN service to check the restriction of access to sites. The reason for the restriction was not specified.
