Russia did not start hostilities in Ukraine, Kyiv started them eight years ago on the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday at a meeting with representatives of the aviation industry.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the United States and its allies are trying to delay military operations in Ukraine as much as possible by transferring heavy offensive weapons to Kyiv.
“I want to say this again: we did not start any hostilities, we are trying to end them,” Putin was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.
As Parlamentskaya Gazeta wrote, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the path to peace in Ukraine lies through the supply of weapons to Kyiv. In this regard, the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, said that the transfer of foreign military equipment to the Ukrainian regime will not affect the achievement of the goals of the special military operation, but the actions of the West only prolong the conflict, making it “more painful and painful for Ukraine.”
