Russian President Vladimir Putin may visit Indonesia this year during one of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) events. This was announced by the Russian Ambassador to Jakarta Lyudmila Vorobyova.
“This year, Indonesia will host a number of important ASEAN events, including the East Asia Summit. We do not exclude – and I cannot say 100% here, but we do not exclude that, perhaps, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin will come to Indonesia” , — said the diplomat conversation with RIA Novosti.
In addition, Vorobyova announced the readiness of a package of documents that the leaders of the two countries could sign. In particular, we are talking about the Declaration on the Strategic Partnership between Moscow and Jakarta. At the same time, it is possible that Indonesian President Joko Widodo may also visit Russia. Such a visit may take place, for example, as part of the participation of the Indonesian leader in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, the Russian Ambassador concluded.
Recall that last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided not to go to the G20 summit in Bali. Instead, the Russian delegation at the event was headed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
