Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the domestic gas explosion in Novosibirsk, wishing the victims a speedy recovery and calling the incident a tragedy. The head of state stated this on Thursday at the opening of civil aviation facilities.

As Parlamentskaya Gazeta wrote, on Thursday morning in one of the five-story buildings in Novosibirsk there was an explosion of domestic gas. The fire spread over an area of ​​up to 300 square meters. Eight people are known to have died as a result of the incident.

“Our event seems to be solemn, not like, but yes, the opening of the airport. But you, unfortunately huge, a great tragedy happened, associated with a gas explosion. The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations should now be there, at the scene, ”Putin is quoted by RIA Novosti.

As the Russian leader said, the governor of the region, Andrei Travnikov, has been dealing with the incident “from the first minutes”. “After participating in today’s presentation of the airport, you will return to this work. I and everyone who has gathered here today, we express our sincere condolences to all the victims, the families of the victims. And we wish recovery to everyone who needs it, got some kind of injury, ”he concluded.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, said that Putin keeps the situation around the gas explosion in the Novosibirsk region under his personal control. In turn, Travnikov stated that violations of the rules for operating gas equipment were considered as the main cause of the tragedy.
