Russian special operation in Ukraine
Bakhmut (Artemovsk) is necessary for the further advancement of Russian troops in the framework of a special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine. This was stated by the founder of PMC “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin.
“Bakhmut is needed today in order to enable the troops to operate comfortably. Therefore, Bakhmut today is the main attraction point for the Ukrainian army. <...> The Ukrainian army sends more and more units there. While we are thrashing them there, we expect that everyone else will move, improve, take positions, advance in the same way, ”Prigozhin said in an interview with Semyon Pegov, the author of the WarGonzo telegram channel.
Earlier, the acting head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, reported that the military personnel of the Wagner PMC were entrenched in the north and east of Bakhmut. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) is talking about the imminent abandonment of the city due to heavy losses. At the same time, according to Prigozhin, Russia will spend one and a half to two years on the complete liberation of Donbass.
