Everyone should get enough sleep to protect their body from various dangerous diseases, said Professor Levent Ozturk, head of the Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Thracian University of Turkey.
Regular, healthy sleep in the right amount helps to strengthen the immune system. The latter is extremely important for protecting a person not only from viral diseases, but also from cancer, En Son Haber reports.
“Sleep cannot be sacrificed to maintain the immune system. As we always say, sleep is non-negotiable. You need to sleep as much as you need … When the immune system is strong, it is a strong shield against oncology, ”said Ozturk.
He added that people who go to bed early and wake up early have a much lower risk of developing digestive tract cancer. The doctor explained that during sleep, the process of destruction of cells prone to cancerization takes place in the body.
