An extraordinary meeting of the National Council of Slovakia regarding the transfer of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine will be held on February 14. This was announced today, February 10, by the speaker of the parliament of this country, Boris Kollar.
The initiator of convening an extraordinary meeting is the Kurs-Social Democracy (Smer) party. The opposition has already called unconstitutional the promise of the Acting Prime Minister of Slovakia Edward Heger about the possible transfer of fighter jets to Ukraine.
Recall that Slovakia condemns Russia’s actions in Ukraine and provides military and other assistance to Kyiv. February 9 at the summit in Brussels Vladimir Zelensky personally asked Eduard Heger to supply MiG-29 fighters to Kyiv. In response, the Slovak politician said that Bratislava would do its best to comply with this request. Later, the Slovak Defense Ministry confirmed that negotiations on further military assistance to Ukraine were ongoing.
