Imports of soybeans to the Russian market from the beginning of the season in September 2022 to January 2023 fell by about 13% to 685 thousand tons year-on-year. Writes about it “Kommersantwith reference to Sovecon’s information.
The director of the company, Andrey Sizov, linked the reduction in the import of these products to the country with a record soybean harvest in Russia, especially in its central part. According to Rosstat estimates, 2.5 million tons of soybeans were harvested here, which is 13% more than last year’s result.
The Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) reported that the final soybean harvest in 2022 in the country exceeded 5.75 million tons, and may be more than 6 million tons. A large harvest was noted in all macro-regions, which is relevant against the background of the launch of two large oil plants in the center of Russia with a total processing capacity of about 2 million tons with a focus directly on soybeans, the IKAR said.
