The Antimonopoly Service of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug has threatened Rostelecom with a fine of half a million rubles if its employees do not stop advertising their services over the phone without the consent of citizens. This was reported to URA.RU in the press service of the OFAS.
“The Khanty-Mansiysk OFAS Russia received an appeal from a citizen who reported that he had received advertising calls from a telecom operator on his mobile phone number. The Commission of the Khanty-Mansiysk OFAS Russia recognized the advertising of PJSC Rostelecom, distributed by means of calls from the telephone number of PJSC Rostelecom to the mobile phone number of the subscriber (citizen), as violating the law on advertising,” the agency said.
The district antimonopoly service issued an order to Rostelecom demanding that this advertising activity be stopped. “In case of non-compliance with the order of PJSC Rostelecom, a fine in the amount of 300 to 500 thousand rubles is provided,” the department added.
Earlier, URA.RU reported that residents of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug are outraged by Rostelecom’s monopoly in new buildings. Residents of Nizhnevartovsk, left without an alternative, are forced to overpay for communication services.
