Russia aims to continue the comprehensive development of allied relations with South Ossetia and Abkhazia, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
This is stated in Zakharova’s response to a media request, published on February 13 on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Having recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia 15 years ago, the Russian Federation guaranteed their reliable protection and progressive development, becoming modern and self-sufficient states. Most of the population of Abkhazia and South Ossetia has Russian citizenship and supports a policy of deepening the alliance with Russia. We are aimed at continuing the course towards the comprehensive development of allied relations with the young republics of the Transcaucasus”, Zakharova says in a comment.
