Increasing the supply of blood plasma today is extremely relevant and in demand, since many drugs, in particular immunoglobulins, are produced on the basis of plasma. This was announced by a member of the Federation Council Committee on Rules and Organization of Parliamentary Activities, Honored Doctor of Russia, Candidate of Medical Sciences Vladimir Krugly.
As Parlamentskaya Gazeta wrote, on February 10, the Government approved the concept of increasing the procurement of blood plasma for the production of medicines. This document provides for the modernization of federal and regional institutions for the collection and storage of blood, reducing the cost of plasma procurement by increasing volumes, and developing interaction with donors.
“Recently, there has been a significant shortage of these drugs (immunoglobulins. – Ed.) around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the need and relevance of increasing such production cannot be overestimated,” the senator said, commenting on “SenateInform» approval of the government concept.
According to him, immunoglobulins are especially necessary for those who have congenital immunodeficiency and who need constant administration of such drugs throughout their lives.
