In Kazakhstan, a ninth-grader wounded three students with an ax and a knife at a school

Three students were injured in an attack by a ninth grader at a school in the city of Petropavlovsk in Kazakhstan. He was armed with a kitchen ax and a knife. The attacker has been arrested. According to preliminary information, he is under psychiatric care.

One ninth grader and two tenth graders were injured. Two were hospitalized in the children’s regional hospital with stab wounds to the head and forearm. The third received assistance on the spot. The condition of the children is assessed as stable.

“Pupils’ bags are not searched. I went into the toilet, and came out with a knife and an axe. Other information is not disclosed,” Nazir Zhashibekov, head of the education department, told Kazinform.

A pre-trial investigation under the article “Attempted murder” is being carried out. “His actions and the actions of the school administration will be given a legal assessment as part of the pre-trial investigation,” the prosecutor’s office said. Investigators work at the school.
