In Hamburg, 140 people were evacuated due to a cloud of toxic smoke after a fire

A warehouse fire in Hamburg’s Rotenburgsort quarter has created a toxic cloud of smoke that has hung over the city and is threatening the health of local residents. press office Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK). A fire service spokesman told the DPA news agency that the center of Hamburg is “completely blacked out”. The Rotenburgsort quarter is located east of the center of Hamburg, the area is also close to the city of HafenCity.

NDR citing the fire department, reports that the fire started at about 4:30 am local time (5:30 Moscow time) in a truck stop. The fire then spread to two warehouses. A release of hydrogen sulfide was recorded at the site of the fire, the department added. Information about what exactly is stored in warehouses is being specified.
