A day of mourning has been declared in the Novosibirsk region on February 10 after a gas explosion in a residential building that killed eight people. The head of the region Andrey Travnikov wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
As Parlamentskaya Gazeta wrote, on Thursday morning in one of the five-story buildings in Novosibirsk there was an explosion of domestic gas. The fire spread over an area of up to 300 square meters. Eight people are known to have died as a result of the incident.
The governor called the gas explosion a great tragedy that shocked Novosibirsk residents. “The incident resulted in human casualties. I am sure that the causes of what happened will soon be established and the perpetrators will be punished. Tomorrow, February 10, a day of mourning is declared on the territory of the Novosibirsk Region, ”he said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the incident. He also wished the injured a speedy recovery and called the incident a tragedy.
