Former Minister of Sports of Russia Pavel Kolobkov responded to the decision of 35 states to remove domestic athletes from participation in the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris in 2024. The politician’s words were published by the publication “Sport Express“.
According to the ex-head of the department, what happened is the interference of countries in the affairs of public organizations. At the same time, Kolobkov recalled that the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, had previously spoken about a similar problem.
“My opinion is that the President of the IOC should react harshly to this. If he does not respond to this, we will all understand what the Olympic movement is now, which should, in principle, unite athletes, countries, ”the politician said.
Earlier, a group of 35 states, including the United States and Great Britain, opposed the admission of Russian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympics. As noted by the Latvian Minister of Sports Jurgita Syugzhdinene, the decision of the countries was unanimous.
