The Egyptian authorities reminded tourists about the new rules for duty free shops in Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
Now travelers can purchase up to two liters of alcohol and the same number of packs of cigarettes upon presentation of a passport. At the same time, they will have to pay a customs fee of 1% of the cost of alcohol (at least $ 13 per liter).
“In Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, there are city duty free shops where you can make purchases within 48 hours (two days, including the day of arrival) after arriving in Egypt upon presentation of a passport with an entry stamp,” added representatives of travel agencies.
At the same time, the import of strong alcohol in the amount of more than one bottle per person is prohibited in Egypt. When exiting the airport, passengers will have to scan their luggage. Excess alcohol will be seized.
