Died the first Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Sergey Tereshchenko

The first prime minister of Kazakhstan, Sergei Tereshchenko, died at the age of 72 in a hospital in Astana after a long illness. This was reported to “RIA Novosti” in the government of Kazakhstan. Sergey Tereshchenko was the prime minister of independent Kazakhstan from 1991 to 1994.

Sergey Tereshchenko ranked 45th in the ranking of the 50 most influential businessmen in Kazakhstan in 2022 according to Forbes Kazakhstan. He owned shares in Ordabasy Kus LLP, Aleksandrovskiy Sad LLP, VITA Zhetysu LLP (growing forage crops), Europolis Invest construction LLP, D&T Holding LLP, as well as the Madeleine coffee shop chain.

From October to December 1991, Sergei Tereshchenko was the Prime Minister of the Kazakh SSR, and then for three years – the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. From 1998 to 1999, he headed the public headquarters in support of presidential candidate Nursultan Nazarbayev. From March 1999 to October 2002 he was the chairman of the republican party “Otan”.
