Construction work on the almost 200-kilometer water conduit from the Don River to the Donetsk People’s Republic is nearing completion, and the commissioning of this critical facility is scheduled for April 1.
This was stated to journalists by the acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin. He stressed that the transfer of water from the Don will significantly improve the water supply of Donetsk.
At the same time, the republican authorities are aware that the launch of the water pipeline will not completely solve the problem with water supply. For the full restoration of the water supply in Donetsk, it is necessary to liberate Slavyansk and part of the Kharkov region.
Recall that in the DPR since February of this year, due to hostilities, there have been problems with drinking water. The situation remains extremely tense.
In large cities, water is supplied to the population according to a special schedule. To solve the problem, new water conduits are being built, wells are being drilled, and water supply to the population has been organized.
As reported EADaily, to solve the problem with water supply in the republic, the idea arose to transfer water from the Don River. The decision to build a new water conduit was made in November during negotiations in Moscow between Denis Pushilin and Marat Khusnullin.
