Bloomberg: Some EU members opposed the inclusion of new banks in the tenth package of sanctions against Russia

As part of the tenth package of sanctions, the European Union (EU) intends to ban the export of a number of technologies and components that are used in Russian weapons, reports Bloomberg with reference to sources. According to them, the European Commission (EC) may also propose to include several more banks in the sanctions list. However, a number of countries oppose this, according to the interlocutors of the agency. Which countries are we talking about is unknown.

Politico sources said that the new restrictions could affect four banks, including Alfa Bank.

The head of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the new measures would also include blocking Russian exports for €10 billion. It is expected that sanctions will be adopted by the anniversary of the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine – February 24.
