Another 35 billion rubles allocated for wastewater treatment facilities in Sochi

On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a decision was made to improve the ecology of the Black Sea coast. As part of the regional program for the modernization of wastewater treatment plants in the Krasnodar Territory, by 2025, all five of the largest wastewater treatment plants in the city will be reconstructed, and a new complex will be built in the village of Yakornaya Shchel. 35 billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes.

“In Sochi, an updated Scheme of water supply and sanitation has been approved. Its parameters are closely linked to the Master Plan of the city, taking into account all the promising points of population growth, tourist flow and other indicators that affect the volume of sewerage.

The dynamic growth of Sochi in recent years, as well as the tightening of requirements for the quality of wastewater, dictate the need to expand the complex and improve the current technological processes of treatment. As part of the modernization, it is planned to expand the Bzugin treatment facilities, build their second stage, which will double the capacity – up to 140,000 cubic meters per day.

The best available technological solutions will be applied in the treatment of incoming domestic wastewater. Additionally, in order to balance the load on the city’s sewerage system, the project includes a collector for transferring wastewater from the Dagomys treatment plant in the Lazarevsky district, – said the director of the department for the implementation of projects for the integrated development of the Sochi administration Konstantin Saliev.

Currently, design and survey work is underway at the Bzugu treatment plant complex. The Sochi administration, together with the scientific and technical council of the Russian Ministry of Construction, are developing the main technical solutions that will form the basis of the project.

At the beginning of 2024, it is planned to start construction of the second stage of the Bzugu OSK and put it into operation in December 2025.

The purpose of these events is understandable and has long been expected by Sochi tourists – the purity of coastal waters near city beaches.
