American scientists have found out how a person falls in love with a song from the first note

New York University scientists have found out how a person falls in love with a certain song from the first note, without listening to the musical composition to the end.

The study participants were given to listen to about 250 songs, differing in genre and manner of performance. As it turned out, preferences in this matter are not necessarily related to the perception of music. The participants of the experiment could like the song due to the general atmosphere.

Such a discovery will make it possible to understand which properties of compositions evoke certain emotions in listeners. In fact, a person does not react to notes, but to the general atmosphere, said the senior author of the experiment, Pascal Wallisch.
