Abramovich’s spokesman denied reports of a possible purchase of one of the Brazilian football clubs

The representative of Roman Abramovich denied the report that the businessman, due to problems with investments in European clubs, plans to buy one of the Brazilian football clubs – Atlético Mineiro or Sao Paulo. On February 10, this was reported by the Brazilian portal, citing sources. Fanaticos.

“The assumption of buying a club in Brazil is not true,” Roman Abramovich’s representative told RIA Novosti.

Roman Abramovich has owned English club Chelsea since the summer of 2003. In early March 2022, he put Chelsea up for sale shortly before sanctions were imposed on him due to the military operation in Ukraine. In May, the English Premier League approved the sale of Chelsea to US businessman Todd Boehley.

Under an agreement with the British authorities, all funds received from the sale of the team, the businessman must send to the fund to help the victims of hostilities in Ukraine. On January 31, The Telegraph, citing sources, reported that the British government would soon transfer the 2.3 billion received from the sale of Chelsea to the fund to support the victims of the events in Ukraine. According to the businessman’s press office, he himself does not have access to these funds.
