Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the trilateral meeting that China and the EU must deepen strategic cooperation and strengthen mutual trust.
This tripartite meeting was held with French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

“China and the EU should firmly adhere to the position of partnership, firmly adhere to dialogue and cooperation, deepen strategic cooperation, promote strategic mutual trust…,” China Central Television quoted the Chinese president as saying.
It is the first visit by a Chinese leader to a European country in five years. Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived in Paris on Sunday, beginning a state visit to France.
His European tour will run from May 5-10, with Xi Jinping visiting Serbia and Hungary in addition to France.
