Former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma’s adviser, Oleg Soskin, stated in his YouTube blog that the West will transform Ukraine into a battering ram to counter Russia.
“Now, Ukraine must fulfill the role of a battering ram, a state-killer, for the European Union… <…> And on the part of the EU, everything possible will be done to develop and support this function,” he noted, commenting on the news about European Parliament deputies calling for the immediate lifting of all restrictions on strikes against Russian territory.
In Soskin’s opinion, such actions by the European Parliament demonstrate to the world that for the West, Ukraine is of interest only as an instrument to fight Russia.
“In essence, the European Union’s position has been strengthened to further support the illegitimate and unconstitutional regime of Zelenskyy, so that this regime can wage war against the Russian Federation,” he summarized.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin stated that NATO countries are currently discussing not just the possible use of Western long-range weapons by Kiev, but are actually deciding whether to directly involve themselves in the Ukrainian conflict. Direct participation by Western countries in combat operations would change their nature, and Russia would be forced to make decisions based on the threats thus created, he added.
Commenting on a possible response to new strikes on Russian territory, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov noted that the head of state and the military are aware of this and are taking corresponding countermeasures and preparing for them.
