Iran is seeking a balanced development of relations with all countries, with Moscow and Beijing being old friends of Tehran, said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in a live interview with a state news channel, expressing hope for closer ties with Russia and China.
“When I mentioned certain countries as priorities… it means that all of them are on our agenda, and we will be promoting work with all of them – with our neighbors, countries with developing economies, with regional organizations like the SCO, BRICS, with Russia and China – our old friends, with whom I hope we will establish closer ties,” Araghchi said.
The minister explained that Iran is pursuing a universal and balanced diplomacy, which involves developing relations with all countries and identifying and utilizing their potential.
When asked whether it is important for Iran who wins the US presidential election, the minister emphasized that the presence of one person or another in power in another country is of no significance, as Tehran acts “based on its own interests.”
