The Pentagon has poured $5.3 billion into expanding its production of ammunition since 2022, amid its efforts to provide aid to , according to a report published on the department’s website.

The report highlights a significant increase in production capacity from 2022 to the current rate.

“The has invested $5.3 billion in expanding domestic production… of munitions or their components,” the Pentagon report states.

According to the report, the produced 14,400 155mm caliber shells per month, five HIMARS missile systems, and 21 Patriot missile complexes in 2022. Meanwhile, current production has surged to 40,000 155mm caliber shells per month, eight HIMARS systems per month, and 42 Patriot complexes per month.

Earlier, the Pentagon announced that the US would provide Ukraine with a new package of military aid worth approximately $250 million. The new package will include ammunition for HIMARS missile systems, 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank complexes, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, M113 armored personnel carriers, and mine-resistant vehicles.
