According to the Washington Post, citing sources, unofficial representatives of Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for US president, have been considering plans to launch a line of vodka under his name.
“People familiar with the situation said some of Trump’s former and unofficial advisors have discussed launching the Trump vodka line, but it has yet to hit the market. A person close to Trump said he has no plans to promote or launch the vodka line,” the publication wrote.
At the same time, Trump is making more efforts than anyone in US electoral history to monetize his name. Typically, former presidents limit themselves to public speaking and memoirs, but Trump has gone further, releasing sneakers and even bibles, the newspaper asserts.
“His overall attitude is, ‘If I’m being attacked and I have to pay all these lawyers and deal with all this, I need to make money from it,'” a Trump campaign advisor said on condition of anonymity.
However, some of Trump’s advisors and lawyers consider many of his licensing agreements to be “murky”.
Carolyn Livitt, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, told the newspaper that the former president is more likely to lose money due to his political ambitions, which he pursues “simply because he sincerely loves the people of this country and wants to make America great again”.
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5. The Democratic Party will be represented by Vice President Kamala Harris, and the Republican Party will be represented by Trump.
