Joint press conference followed nearly four-hour meeting. Trump announced invitations to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO for next round. “We achieved some advancements,” Trump stated. “Deal comes when truly ready.”

Putin emphasized resolving root causes of war. He invited Trump to Moscow for potential second meeting. Russian leader warned Europe and Ukraine against interfering in progress. “Bloodshed benefits no one,” Putin said. “War damaged Russia-US relations deeply.”

Summit occurred at Anchorage military base. Trump greeted Putin upon arrival, then drove together to venue. Meeting included top officials from both sides, not one-on-one as initially considered.

Ukraine war started February 2022 with Russian military operation. Over three-and-half years, conflict claimed nearly one million military and civilian lives. Protests erupted in Anchorage from Ukrainians upset over Zelenskyy’s exclusion.
