Zemfira* denied receiving French citizenship

Russian singer Zemfira Ramazanova (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) denied reports that she received French citizenship. She posted about it on social media.

“In a series of propaganda obscurantism, information surfaced about my alleged French citizenship. […] I am a citizen of the Russian Federation, and I do not have and will not have any other citizenships. I demand the Ministry of Justice in court to prove foreign funding for me, which I never had in my life, ”she wrote on her Instagram page (owned by Meta, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

She stressed that apart from Russian citizenship, she no longer has and never will. Zemfira also noted that she regularly pays taxes in the Russian Federation.

On Wednesday, May 31, many telegram channels began to publish information that Zemfira allegedly received French citizenship, writes MK. This was due to the fact that the singer has been living in France for about a year and a half and, together with the Russian actress Renata Litvinova, is organizing the performing arts.

* Zemfira was entered by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation into the register of foreign agents on February 10. In May, she filed a lawsuit with the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation with a request to remove this status from her.
