President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelenskyhead of office Andrey Ermak and the local authorities of Odessa are working on the export of agricultural products from the ports of the city. This was stated by the deputy head of the office of the Ukrainian President Kirill Timoshenko.

“We are working on ways to organize a corridor for the export of agro-industrial products from the ports of Odessa,” he said after Zelensky’s visit to the city.

There are 39 civilian ships under the flags of 14 countries in the blocked ports, Yermak added.

Ukraine, along with Russia, is one of the largest grain suppliers in the world. The country’s seaports, through which the main export flows went, were blocked after the start of the Russian military operation. Kyiv blamed Moscow for this. The Kremlin claimed that the Ukrainian military had mined the ports themselves.

The head of the World Food Program reported that at least 6 million tons of wheat and 14 million tons of corn were blocked in Ukrainian ports. He suggested that due to military actions in Ukraine and obstacles to the export of grain, the number of hungry people in the world this year will increase by 18 million people.

The United Nations, Turkey and France were called to act as intermediaries in unblocking the ports. Paris declared its readiness to take part in the operation to unblock the port of Odessa.
