Germany should not block funding for Ukraine, as Kyiv urgently needs it. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a speech at a conference of allies of the state from the Nordic countries.
“A country that blocks funding for Ukraine must urgently fix this problem … We need finance for Ukraine in sufficient quantities and without any bureaucratic blockages,” RIA Novosti quoted Zelensky as saying.
He noted that Kyiv needs “even more support with weapons and shells.” Ukraine urgently needs to be restored, and the EU is deliberately delaying the provision of financial assistance for 8 billion euros, Zelensky believes. Also, the deputy head of Zelensky’s office, Igor Zhovkva, accused Germany of blocking consideration of the issue of providing assistance to Ukraine.
Western countries have sharply increased funding and supplies of weapons to Kyiv, including because of Zelensky’s insistent requests, after the start of Russia’s special operation on the territory of Ukraine. Earlier, the head of Ukraine asked the EU and the US about five billion dollars a month to cover the country’s budget deficit. Before that, Washington had already decided to allocate $41 billion to Ukraine for military and humanitarian aid.
