Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed willingness to negotiate with Russia to end the war but insists that United States and Europe must be present in the discussions. He made this condition clear in a video statement on Wednesday.

Russia claims that discussions regarding Ukraine are already progressing rapidly with the Trump administration. Russian attacks across Ukraine continued on the same day.

Zelensky recently shifted his stance on negotiations. In an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, he stated that he is ready to hold peace talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He emphasized that if negotiations are the only way to restore peace and prevent further loss of life. He would act in the country’s best interest.
Following this interview Zelensky reiterated in his video statement that any negotiations must include U.S. and European representatives.
He added, “To be honest, Putin is a murderer and a terrorist. If our allies believe we should sit for talks, then so be it. U.S. and European representatives must be present alongside Ukraine and Russia.”

Kremlin issued a statement. Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that discussions on Ukraine are ongoing at the ministerial level within Trump’s administration but declined to provide further details.
