Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he intends to discuss achieving peace in Ukraine during his upcoming visit to the country on August 23.
Modi shared this on social media platform X, stating that he plans to present his vision for resolving the conflict during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“I will be visiting Ukraine at the invitation of President @ZelenskyyUa. This visit will be an opportunity to build on the earlier discussions with him and deepening the India-Ukraine friendship. We will also share perspectives on the peaceful resolution of the ongoing Ukraine conflict. As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region.,” Modi wrote.

Narendra Modi emphasized that a good relationship between India and Ukraine will be established through this visit.
Before heading to Ukraine, Modi will visit Poland for two days. Indian Deputy Foreign Minister Tanmay Lal briefed the media on August 19 about these upcoming trips.
When asked if Modi planned to propose his own peace plan to Zelensky, Lal did not provide a direct answer but emphasized India’s consistent position: advocating for a peaceful dialogue between the concerned parties, with India remaining committed to this approach as the only way to resolve the conflict.

During Modi’s official visit to Russia on July 8–9, the peaceful resolution of the conflict was also a key topic of discussion. Zelensky criticized Modi’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He described it as “a devastating blow to peace efforts”.
